What is my book shelf ?
Your book shelf is the section of listbook.net where you can share your book collection. Your book shelf is visible on a kind of profile page, and you can share this link with others so that they can see your book collection. Book Shelves are interlinked with each other, so you can view the shelf of people who read the same books as you.
How do I add a book to my book shelf?
There are 3 ways to add books to your book shelf. On the members page, you can simply fill in the information on the left hand side of the screen. For those of you who have a large book collection, we have also added the option to automatically fill out your books details by entering the ISBN number. For more information on how to do this, roll your mouse over the
icon.
If you chose to add your books automatically using the 'Query ISBN' feature, we can also get an image of that books cover that will be featured on the front page of the website, aswell as on your book sheet, and as a recommendation.

The final way to add a book to your bookshelf is to visit the books page (at http://www.listbook.net/books/Book Name or by accessing book search). Hover your mouse over the cover image and click the add button.
How can I edit my profile?
Your profile is also editable from the member page. Using the forms on the right hand side, you can set some basic information about yourself that will be visible to those who view your profile page. You can also upload an image (of anything you like, not neccesarily you) and this image will be visible when people search for a book.
What is book search ?
Book search is our unique way of linking together people who have similar tastes. It can be accessed by clicking an author or book title on your bookshelf.
How can I share my book shelf with others?
In your member area you will see a section titled "Your bookshelf link:". When you hover over this, you will see an image of the books you are currently reading or have just read. If you copy and paste the code in the text box into your blog or profile, you can display this image with a link back to your bookshelf.
Your image will update whenever you change a books status from reading to read, aslong as you allow it to generate by moving the mouse over the link text box.
You do not however, need to re-copy and paste the link.
We are working on producing an XML feed of your books, however this is not integrated at this time.
Can I review my books?
Yes indeed you can. This is a new feature. When you view your bookshelf, you can click a book title to be taken to that books page. There is a box on the right hand side to which you can add reviews. The most recent review is shown on the page, with older reviews accessable through the link.
What is my shoutbox?
Your shoutbox is the area of your bookshelf where other members can leave you messages, or you can leave messages for other users. The 3 most recent messages are displayed in the top shoutbox tabs and longer messages are shortened. You can view all the entries, and longer entries by clicking the link entitled 'View All Shoutbox Entries '
What are shelves and sheets?
Your bookshelf will contain all the books you have listed here on listbook. These are visible in two ways: shelf and sheet. If you choose to view by Shelf, details such as the author, publisher, isbn and reading status will be displayed. If you choose to view by sheet, all your books will be displayed by their cover.
In shelf mode, titles and authors can be clicked to get recommendations and similar users via booksearch. In sheet mode, only the book title will have this feature.
How do I add a user as my friend?
Easily :) You can now build up a friends list on your profile and it's easy to do. When you are browsing a profile page simply click the 
icon to send a friend request to a member. The search page makes it easy to find your friends already registered on the site, or if they are not registered get them to join up. When you have a new friend request it will appear on your member homepage under a new heading where you can choose to approve or deny it.
How can I display my books to my facebook profile?
We have developed an application for facebook that will display the 3 most recent books you've added on your facebook profile. You can install the application onto your facebook profile by clicking here
We have made it really easy to install and use. Simply click the link above and choose install application. You will need to have an account and be logged in on facebook.com in order to do this. Once you have approved the application you will notice the listbook logo on the right hand side of your screen. From here, all you need to do is enter the url to your bookshelf here at listbook.net, which will look something like http://www.listbook.net/bookshelf/###.
Now check your profile, you will see your 3 most recent books.
How can I customize recommendations?
When you view a books page our system automatically produces some recommendations by matching people who read similar books together. However, you can customise these recommendations by submitting your own.
When you are logged in and viewing a books page you will see a link below the recommended books. You can submit books from your own bookshelf by typing the title in the box.
